1. Describe the logo using the language of the Elements and Principles of Design.
The logo consists of 5 colours which are dark green, light green, yellow, white and black. The artist used the logo, which looks like a flower to represent it blaming the other person which is the black image. The flower is pointing towards the black image. Also the artist make the b in blame and p in people green to make BP stand out. 

2. Describe the symbols used in the logo. Why did the graphic artist use such imagery?
The artist has used the logo of BP company and and added other elements to the logo. The logo is supposed to represent blaming other people for the causes in this world. So the artist made the BP logo into something that is blaming another image. The arm pointing at the black image looks like it is blaming the pollution and oil spills in this world. So the company BP is just blaming others for their pollution.

3. What does this logo say of BP's coroporate identity? 
This logo says that BP's corporate identity is disliked by many. Their pollution and oil spills that are being put into the water and the environment is harming animals and people. They are just blaming other people, saying they are what caused most of the pollution. They do not see anything wrong and believe their company is doing good when it is not. 

Digital Actors

1. Is this acting or is this animation?
To me, I think Avatar is both acting and animation. Avatar uses real actors to be the the animated characters in the movie. They actually have to do all the face expressions the director wants the animated characters to portray. It still takes actors to be professional and stay in character to be an animation. It is like cartoons, actors need to be in character to have the tone of voice. But the animation is used through most of the movie. Without the animation and graphics, they movie wouldn't have turned out the way it would. It can not be done with animation.

2. Do you think that animated character should be eligible for acting awards?
No, I don't believe that animated characters should be eligible for an acting award because they are not doing the full acting job. An animated character can be fixed while you cannot fix a real like character. The actor is behind the screens and the animated character is presented. The actor should get an award but it shouldn't be for acting. 

3. Do you think that human actors will ever become obsolete? Why or why not?
No i don't think that human actors will ever become obsolete because having all animated movies is boring. Also animated movies take a long time to make. Viewers want to see real people act because you can see how a real person feels and how they react. They don't want to get the wrong idea about how something looks and look at something that is fake. Even though technologies are improving and there will always be something new, I believe that people will still want to see movies done by real life actors. Having a mix of different type of movies is good. It gets a lot of people's attentions.

Mashups and Copyright Law

Glee Mash-up

1. What is this mashup trying to communicate? Is it technical experiment, social or political commentary, a comedic parody, or an abstract work of media art?
I think this mashup is an abstract work of media art because glee is trying to test out a new type of style and different way to express it. Also this could be a technical experiment because the actors in glee are singing and have instruments then they go and dance. They want to see what the audiences reaction is to this type of thing, so if it is a hit, then they will do more mashups. This mashup is trying to communicate how different styles of music can fit into each other and sound good. They are using Bon Jovi and Usher. You think of two different people when you hear those names. 

2. Did its creator follow or break copyright laws in its production?
This creator didn't break the copyright laws in its production because the creator remade the song into their own. Glee always uses major artist's songs and make it their own. It isn't exactly the same. Also on youtube, when people make covers, it doesn't count as breaking the copyright law because they are using their own voice, or instruments to make the song. Usually, T.V. shows and movies should ask the artists if they are allowed to use their song. It is only right to do so. 

3. Do you think that mashup like this requires copyright permission? Why or why not.
I do think a mashup like this requires copyright permission because they are using another person's song. What if that person didnt want them to use it and does anyways. It is like stealing something and just remaking it. Like i said before, they should already ask the artist if they can use their songs.

From Spray Can to light: Graffiti Revisited

This is an image of a new type of street graffiti that i find very interesting. It is called "reverse graffiti". Artists use the cleaning of dirt off of things to represent themselves. It is a new way to express yourself without having   to destroy public property. Even though it is temporary, it  is a good way to express. This picture has detail still, and is really amazing to see. If i ever see this on the streets i would admire it. This image is done with snow. You can see trees, buildings, clouds, icicles and more. It is showing different images to create one huge image. How the trees are done, is unique. It isn't sharp edged and clean, it is smudged to give a different effect. The artist has used curved lines and straight lines.

I chose this as my favourite light graffiti because it is very eye catching. Ads are supposed to be eye catching and appealing to the viewers. It shows what they are advertising and makes it stand out on the black background. This drink called "Red" is written in light graffiti too. Also it looks like light/smoke is coming out of the bottle since the cap is off. The top looked like it just popped out with the light graffiti following its path. There is a use of different types of light used to create this image. There are thin lines, thick lines, wide lines, and dots. The gold and red colours really stand out in this image.


Light graffiti and traditional graffiti are two ways to express yourself. Both graffiti's are very unique and beautiful to see. Light graffiti is not permanent and is legal, while traditional graffiti is permanent and illegal. With light graffiti, you need practice and skill to know which light to use, and how to use it so when you capture it in a photo it comes out in a very different way. The different strokes you can make and styles. Also, when you use light graffiti, you can touch it up using photoshop. It is a good way to advertise. In traditional graffiti, there are also techniques to know. Like what type of spray can to use, and how to draw and tag. There are different colours you can work with, and styles. Everyone has their own different way to express their feelings. All graffiti is different, it comes from within. But traditional graffiti, is usually done in the city where people can see them. Light graffiti and traditional graffiti are both amazing types of graffiti.

A Look at Music Videos

Adele - Chasing Pavements -

Initial reaction: 
My immediate thoughts on the music video is that there has to be a meaning behind this song and video. the pictures that were made on music video were interesting. When there were scenes with the couple in the car accident on the pavement moving. It looks like they are walking and moving but they are actually lying down when they did it. I think that the video was emotional and created a mood that was more sad than happy. The tone of the song and the lyrics suited the video and it brought out the meaning of the song. Although the video is portrayed to be sad, I think it was interesting and cute to see the dancers dancing on the pavement, which relates back to the song title.

Analysis and interpretation: 
The musician, Adele, was inspired by an experience she had and recorded this song. The experience wasn't a a happy one and affected her a lot. In the video, not many bright colours were used so it created a sad mood for the audience. It's an experience with her former boyfriend. She learned that he had cheated on her, and she went to the bar he was at and punched him in the face. She got thrown out and asked herself, "What is it that your chasing? You're chasing an empty pavement."

Consideration of cultural context:









The events may have influenced the musician to create the video because the event relates to her former boyfriend. The lyrics represent the question she was asking herself and the feeling she had with her former boyfriend. The video was created based on the event and Adele wanted to a create a deeper meaning. The video concentrates on a couple and how they met and their relationship. Since the couple was dancing on the pavement, it relates to the title of the song because it seemed like they were chasing each other.




Expression of aesthetic judgment:
The choreography is related to the song because it represented the relationship of the couple. The whole dance and acting made it seem like they were chasing pavements and worked well with the song itself. They use shadows in the choreography to add the climax of the storyline. The storyline starts when they got into the car crash and then when they started dancing they were retelling their life together from when they first met to how they died.




Ongoing reflection: How has your chosen music video influenced your reception of the song?
Adele is asking herself if it is worth fighting for because if her and her boyfriend keep fighting it is kind of pointless. When they're fighting it's like she's fighting for nothing because it leads no where and it's wasting time and you never know what happens next. In the video, the couple died unexpectedly and they didn't even know it was going to happen.
